About Coffee Table Eats

HELLO! I’m Kristin.

Do you love seeking new flavors but struggle with cooking for multiple food allergies? You’re in the right place!

Welcome to My Kitchen!

One of our family’s favorite treats is to sit around our coffee table in the living room, eating dinner squeezed up next to each other and watching a movie. That is, until our six-year-old starts doing parkour on the couch and hitting his ten-year-old sister in the head. Life is messy, hilarious, and sometimes complicated, and feeding yourself or your family can be intimidating.

Life gets even trickier when you add food allergies to the mix, but EVERYONE deserves to eat delicious food on a daily basis. That’s where this blog comes in: helping you make casual, delicious meals to eat around the coffee table or wherever you feel most at home. Whether you live alone or you’re cooking for a family of eight, there’s something here for you.

Cooking for Multiple Allergies

Our family combined has multiple food allergies: dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, fish, soy, sunflower seeds/oil, garlic, onion, beans, and raw/undercooked eggs. Plus oral allergy syndrome to many raw fruits and vegetables. We live in Wisconsin, so we’re used to watching people’s heads explode when we say that we can’t have dairy.

The recipes on this site have been developed over the years in my kitchen to be tasty, unfussy, and allergy-friendly. So while not everything on this site will accommodate all allergies, I try to list substitutions and hacks whenever possible so you can adapt the recipes to your needs. All people and allergies are different, so please contact your allergist or doctor before trying any new food products. If you adapt something for your family, I’d love to hear from you!

Cooking for our multiple allergies has empowered me to take charge of my family’s well being, and I hope you can harness this magic as well. Thank you for letting me and my family be a part of your journey!
