A sweet and sassy spice rub covers juicy pork that’s sure to please everyone at your table! This sweet and spicy grilled pork tenderloin is a quick and easy meal for a weeknight, but also special enough for a celebration.
Easy dinners are my FAVORITE. And in the summer, nothing is easier than popping something on the grill and basically walking away until it’s done. This sweet and spicy grilled pork tenderloin requires minimal effort for maximum flavor. The spice rub forms a delicious crust around the juicy meat, and it tastes great fresh off the grill or cold the next day.
Because of our son’s garlic allergy, I tend to make all of my own spice blends because it’s pretty difficult to find safe store-bought mixes! But even if your spice cupboard doesn’t rival a Penzey’s store like mine does, the ingredients in this rub are pretty common. The only exception might be the smoked paprika.
Smoked paprika is a ROCKSTAR ingredient when you have to make your own spice rubs and barbecue sauces without garlic or onion. It adds a gentle spice and a smoky hit that really makes this spice rub sing. But if you can’t find it, regular sweet paprika will work too.
Make Sweet and Spicy Grilled Pork Tenderloin Allergy Friendly for You!
As written, this recipe is top 9 allergen free, gluten free, garlic free, onion free, mustard free, and legume free. You can easily decrease the amount of ground pepper to 1/2 teaspoon if you’re worried about your family’s spice tolerance! But otherwise this recipe is so simple, it hopefully won’t require too many changes. Serve with the sides of your choice; our family loves roasted vegetables and fresh summer salads with this.
If you only want to make one tenderloin, simply save half of the spice rub for next time! This grilled pork is great for meal prep because it tastes just as good the next day! Slice it up to use in sandwiches or paninis, dice it up for salads or casseroles or breakfast hash, or even eat pieces cold out of the fridge. I won’t judge you, I’m pretty sure I did that last week.

Sweet and Spicy Grilled Pork Tenderloin
This sweet and spicy spice blend really makes this pork tenderloin stand above the rest! Serve fresh off the grill with the sides of your choice, dice and use for salads, slice thin for paninis or sandwiches, or dice and use in a casserole or fried rice. If you only want to make one tenderloin, just save half of your spice blend mixture for next time!
Ingredients
- 2 pork tenderloins (about 2 lbs)
Sweet and Spicy Spice Blend
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
- Pinch ground cloves
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Prep your tenderloins by removing them from the packaging, and cutting off any excess fat or tendons on the outside of the meat.
- In a small bowl, combine all of the spice blend ingredients. Pour over all sides of the pork tenderloins, rubbing into the meat so all the surfaces are covered with spice.
- Grill over medium heat for about 20-30 minutes, rotating once or twice, until the internal temperature of the meat reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Don't keep flipping the tenderloins around; keep them on one side until they release on their own without sticking to the grill, because that means you have a yummy crust!
- Remove the tenderloins from the grill onto a platter, and cover them with foil. Let the tenderloins rest for 15 minutes to let the juices redistribute, then remove the foil. Slice across the grain and serve!
Notes
This spice blend is great in other dishes as well! Use on grilled chicken, add spice to rice, sprinkle on scrambled eggs, mix with sugar when cooking candied pumpkin seeds, even use it with shredded pork in a slow cooker.
